Teens rocked some pretty weird fashion ten years ago, but the weirdest was “bedazzled everything”. If it wasn’t completely covered in rhinestones, it wasn’t fit to wear. Let’s take a look back at some of the blinged out trends teens rocked.
Bedazzled Ed Hardy
In the early 2000s, Ed Hardy by Christian Audigier was the official uniform of Jon Gosselin and half the cast of Jersey Shore. And as if Ed Hardy wasn’t gaudy enough, people in the aughts felt as if they needed to guild the Lilly and bedazzle Ed Hardy. The tattoo-inspired fashion line is pretty much the international code for douchebag.
Bedazzled Juicy Couture
Putting rhinestones on a terry cloth track suit was the preferred method of customizing your clothing in the late 2000s. After all, there’s no better way for bachelorette parties to let everyone know that Amanda is getting married than to glitz out athletic wear.
Bedazzled Fancy Pockets on Jeans
So what if it was hard to sit? Teens in the aughts were all about bedecking their booties with bling. And it didn’t just stop at jeans pockets — one company even bedazzled song lyrics onto their jeans to create a look that says, “I have money, but I don’t know what to do with it.”
Bedazzling a Flip Phone
In the aughts, the super-expensive iPhone and even more expensive iPhone plan had not yet dominated the cell phone market. Teens used to text their friends on a primitive device known as the “flip phone”. And you bet your life they’d bedazzle the living daylights out of it.
Teens rocked faded sunglasses in the aughts, and would then bedazzle them with little hearts. Yes, they would put something that catches light onto something meant to deflect light. Being able to see through your shades is for the unfashionable!
Bedazzled Chandelier Earrings
It’s an age old riddle — can you put jewels on something that is already a jewel? In 2007 you damn sure could! The bling fashion trend was an unstoppable monster threatening to bejewel everything in its path. Nothing was safe — not even things that were already shiny.
The technical term for bedazzling your vajay is vajazling, and yes, it was a real trend. It started when Jennifer Love Hewitt went on TV to proclaim her love for decking out her lady stuff with diamantés. Hey, sometimes when you’ve run out of things to rhinestone, you gotta get creative!
